Looks similar to one sold by Bosleys :

4th Royal Irish Dragoon Guards Victorian hallmarked silver NCO’s arm badge.

Default Cap Badge

Griff , not an Nco Arm badge . Maybe an officers collar badge .
Hopefully someone on the forum has come across one of these or has an example . I do have the J&Co officers cap badges Bz and S/G

Was this the badge that Dead Spartan sold a little while ago? Must admit I thought it was Irish Guards.

My guess and it is just that, is that it was an Officers collar badge, the same period as the Officer only badges

Default 4RIDG

Drmiggy,

I’m also leaning my towards this being a collar badge . In Bz the cap is the same size as the collars (Only difference is the The fixings)

Thanks for everyones input, would like to see a pair or a photo showing the collars being worn

Attached sil/gilt/enamel being worn

Regards

Tony C

The arm badge was consistent from late 1800’s through to amalgamation so I’m not convinced it is a standard arm badge. Band will always cause confusion and like any unidentifiable badge it could be worn by bandsmen.

I agree, and looking at your photo, strengthens the case for a collar badge.
