Default Unknown badge for identification

Not sure what this is and haven't bought it yet. Is it worth it?

Cheers Rob

Depending on size, it's either a 5th Dragoon Guards cap badge or collar badge, If you could give dimensions and Pic of reverse this would be helpfull.

Default Unknown Badge

Hi Bruv,
It's 5th Dragoon Guards. There's one of those on the old belt of badges. Slightly mis struck. If you trawl through my posts, you should find it. Always reckoned it to be a fairly rare one. Get it.

It is datable to 1902-29. The regiment was amalgamated in 1922 to become the 5th/6th Dragoons but continued to wear the old regtl badges (K&K 744) until the regt was retitled to in 1927 to the 5th Inniskilling Dragoon Guards (AO 179/1927) and the new VDG (K&K 745) was sealed in 1929. The Regt became Royal in 1935.

If it is a full size cap 5DG badge then it is desireable. If it is lugged then it is either a smaller collar or a very early cap badge if it is full sized. (41mm high and 27mm wide)
