Default 2nd SAS bits

G'day lads, I was just reading about the marsh collection and thought I'd share what I have with you in case you are interested.
I picked it up a few years ago now but it all came together in the one bundle.
The Association pin is numbered to him on the back.
Thanks for the feedback on the other bits too!
All the best
Mike

Hi Damocles, I am sorry but I n my view the sas wings on top and middle row are fakes as well as the 101 trp badge. The sas side cap can you post a better pic? Cheers JB

I don't suppose you can show a close up of the black backing material of the 2nd SAS shoulder title?

No problem lads, the other bits were just cream on the pie for me as it was the 2nd sas items I really wanted. You may be right about the wings and patch as I am definitely no expert.
I just thought I'd show them anyway.
All the best
Mike

The 2nd SAS title is ok you can see this already from the front, the side cap has a cut down 21st SAS arm patch on it so definitely not ww2.

Cheers

G'day hamandjam,
You might be right mate all I know is this cap came in its original box with verifiable paperwork detailing his history with the regiment and his escapes from various camps in germany. In fact one of the site members has copies of this paperwork that I sent him for his collection.
All the best
Mike

Default Bill Mills?

Hi Mike,

Is that the side cap of Bill Mills by any chance?

This is a very mixed bag of items.

Do you have a better pic of the 2nd SAS title?

Best regards,

Johan

Hi Johann,
Yes mate it is. All of these items came from the same chap that's why I'm a bit surprised to have been told the wings are incorrect but then as I say I'm no expert.
As you say it is a very mixed bag. Any idea how I can find out a bit more about the 2nd sas chap buddy?
All the best
Mike

Mike , from what I can see his name was SV Hale? Sadly it would not be the first time that lots are mixed with good and bad items by sellers. How did you get this lot? Cheers JBQUOTE=21Damocles;121181]Hi Johann,

Default 2nd SAS bits

Hi Mike

I can only give you a bit of info that backs up the entry in the paybook. WO Hale was on Para cse 129A at Ringway between 13/8/44 and 22/8/44. At that stage he was 2 SAS as were the other members of the course. As far as his service with the Regiment is concerned he was an Orderly Room Sjt with 2 SAS.
Hope this helps.

Cheers

Arnhem

Default 2 SAS

Mike,

I think it is a very mixed bag indeed in the almost literal sense.

The stuff of WO Hale is OK. Would like to see a better pic of the 2nd SAS title though.

Jim Bill was in the Royal Artillery, left behind to cover the retreat from Dunkirk and spent most of the war in captivity (or escaping 12 times). He finally made it back to the UK in 1945 but only joined 21 SAS after the war in 1947.

So this stuff did not belong to the same person, that is for sure.

Best regards,

Johan

Hi Johann,
No mate I didn't mean to give the impression that it all belonged to the same person just that the chap who sent me the 2 SAS items also sent me the other stuff over time. He is a house clearance expert and has passed on some really unusual stuff.
You've seen part of my collection so you know what I mean Johann. :-)
All the best
Mike

Default Sorry, misunderstood

Hi Mike,

Sorry, I think I just misunderstood.

I got the impression all that stuff arrived in one batch.

Cheers!

Johan

Hi Johan
What are your views on the wings top row and middle row?

The side cap remains also a question mark for me.

Cheers
JB
