I can't see a collector having had it before me, it was just amongst the debris of used surplus stuff on a "proper" surplus stall.
Who knows the provenance of most of this stuff though?
The slider sleeve removal - was that the practise back in the late 60's?
Tigerlilly, how's your '63 dated beret?
Got a Suez dated yet?

Edit - just seen your post above 'Lil - my question answered.

See my earlier post Leigh, other than mine having a name tag inside, it's in the same way as yours with the cover in, have just despatched word to my brotner to send me pics of dads beret.
No I don't own a Suez period one yet, could grab my dads off of my brother but its destined to go to my nephews so would probably be bad form.

Leigh ,from the pic it looks like the crown on the badge is non void . Is that correct ?
If theres 2 slots in the front could it have had a RSignals badge in it at sometime ? That would make it a lot rarer than a Parachute Rgt beret. 1 Para Sig Sqn compared to 3+ Para Regt Btns

I hadn't considered R Sigs - from what I recall the slits are too close together.
The badge looks included - I'll dig the beret back out and check.
I'll check through notes on the beret, it could well be that I've stuck an anod. badge on it years ago because "it's a badge". It's the sort of thing I tended not to note when I was young because I'd remember.
Years later and you can guess how the "I'll remember" bit has worked out.

Who is the badge maker? HW Timings made them in the 1960s with a unpierced crown. The later lugged ones were pierced.

My dads lugged KC badge issued to him in 1955. Just out of interest.

Do you have an image of a non void Timings example Alan ? All the non void examples ive seen have been Gaunt London .There are a few other badges that are marked with Gaunt London that are found non void.

The badge is pierced, just the depth of the top of the left hand cushion gives the impression of being unvoided.
An image that I didn't bother to post in post no. 1, and crop of one that shows the slider pocket area. The bottom of the exposed slider shows where the lower of the two slits are, it only pierces the outer fabric so doesn't sactually "slider slits" are. The badge is a Gaunt B'ham.
Looks like there's never be n a R Sigs badge fitted.

Nice, it's the family link that makes it more so.

I have a Smith & Wright that is non voided as well as a non voided Gaunt London (and a Gaunt London that is voided). All on sliders. I have others outside this discussion.

You'll know of Arnhem Jim's article Mike, but link added for anyone that has an interest in Queen's Crown Parachute Regiment badges and didn't know of it:
