Default 2 cloth for ID

any one able to help with these 2 cloth badges that i obtained at the Bedford fair.

The first reminds me of one of the Field Ambulances, but cannot remember which one.

The 2nd is a small, Subdued? grenade patch. 40mm x 25mm.

Thanks
Gordon

Grenade badge is I believe designed to be worn by Royal Engineer Sergeants as part of their badge of rank (with stripes) in shirt sleeve order sewn on a khaki shirt.

A similar example and more grenades of various types in my album:

agree with GGA on the grenade badge.

The RAMC badge you refer to is the 'Opinicus' worn by 257 (Southern) Gen Hosp. I don't have one to show you. There are pictures in Marc Sherriff's booklet.

Your badhe, however, faces in the opposite direction to the RAMC badge. Might it be a London Transport item?

Stephen.

I have a matching pair, 1 facing each direction.

Default 2 cloth for ID

In that case, how about collar badges for the London Passenger Transport Board uniform?

Stephen.

This is NOT a Royal Engineer Sergeants Grenade for wear with rank. It would have nine flames to it. This looks more like a Fusilier arm badge

I did wonder whether it was a "rank" badge. All those I have seen are
shaped to the grenade whereas this is rectangular with a merrowed edge.

Cannot find anything in Lt Col Hodges book under RRF.

Any member able to offer any other suggestions.

Gordon

To me, the grenade badge looks like a United States Army Ordnance Corps badge.
Checked a US Army Ordnance badge - this isn't it.
