I'm not hugely surprised your wings glow. This pattern was made with rayon thread which is a synthetic fibre. UV will not glow with natural materials such as cotton or silk which other patterns were made of, nor will it highlight synthetic materials that have been dyed/coloured, which is why it's a bit of a false test. Residue of washing powder can also glow, as do some glues.

The fact your wings are made with uncoloured synthetic rayon thread is correct for that pattern of wing and thus will demonstrate a glow.

The white, loose weave mesh backing is associated with fakes made by Patch King, a US company that was producing badges in the 40s, and that's more an indicator of a fake in the case of RCAF wings. I'm not aware of any issue badges made with a loose white weave backing.

Another lesson taught.
Thank you Gentlemen for shedding some light on this strange wing.

Default and another WOG wing.

Much similar to the wings pictured above.
No trace of white thread on back001.jpg

Interesting pic Wayne. For me the jury is still out if these were actually issued and worn during war time. Funny that I have also never seen one with the proper red in the crown. That is also troubling.
