Default RAOC items I am looking for

Copy of a post I wrote for a RAOC Forum - Can anyone help?

As many of you know, I research and collect RAOC items, and here are some of the rarer items I have never found.

For the RAOC Bakers among you - Do any of you remember or indeed wore some small white bakerlite buttons with the RAOC badge moulded into them - worn on the 'Cooks White' tunic or white coat? In fact did RAOC butchers wear them as well??

Must have been produced in their 1,000's but I have never been able to get samples of RAOC bread wrappers or indeed the earlier RASC examples.

Produced in very small numbers, I have never seen an example of a RAOC anodised 'Kings Crown' 1947 pattern cap badge or anodised buttons with corps titles around the edge - I do have an example of the later 1949 Kings Crown 'Slim Tonanti' in anodised aluminium however.

The QC anodised RAOC badge we all knew was not widely issued till circa 1961 due to older badges still being issued..

Mike C

I would also be interested to know about any unusual items you may have?

It would be interesting to see such ephemera as bread wrappers etc.
I have nothing of great interest re. the AOC / RAOC although I've always liked this photo showing the decorative reverse designs of the medals wrongly worn to the front, and a RAOC black painted badge that an uncle brought back from a short stay and hurried departure from Boulogne in May 1940.

I do remember the bread wrappers. They used to be put out for tea and toast in 4ADSR mess.

Thanks Alan, I only had a reference and drawing which could have been a 'normal' '47 pattern RAOC 'Sua Teli Tonanti' badge before that thread which I remember well.

I have a '47 pattern Gliding Metal example with matching collar badges which as far as I am aware were never produced in anodised?

Now as to the matching '47 RAOC anno button with title round the edge. Anyone got one spare?

There must have been 10's of 1000's of them issued Alan, in coloured 'days of the week' wrappers which never turned up in cookhouses on the right day.. LoL

Problem is no one seems to have saved any, not even the RAOC (now RLC) museum... not even a picture of one.

I'm sure there's nothing exciting here Mike but I've started this album, I've got a few more things to add

Re RAOC Sports Patch,

Worn by No 3 (Basic) Training Battalion, RAOC Hilsea (Portsmouth), moved to Blackdown circa 1955

Merged with No1 (Regular) Battalion, No2 (National Service) Battalion (Aldershot) and No4 (Technical) Training Battalion circa 1962 at Deepcut to become Depot and Training Battalion RAOC (All Regulars) with numbered companies.

Mike.
Ive had the 1947 pattern ano badge and stamped ano buttons in my hand. The buttons were all large i think. If that is a consulation to you.
Im sure there was a 1947 pattern badge in a lot in the last C&T auction before Xmas.

I now have a promise of a Medium RAOC logoed anodised button which I am looking at/picking up at Stockport on the 12th of this month. It is one that I was sent a picture of a few years back, but did not manage to get hold of at the time.

If any members are attending the Stockport Arms Fair on the 12th of January I will be wearing a RAOC badged fleece with a Forum Lapel Badge.
