Default Tassie QSA

hi all
my latest pick up. not a badge but a rare piece of australian and tasmanian history. only about 80 in this unit so the rarest of the units from tassie

QSA
Service Number: 142

Rank: Private

Unit: 2nd Tasmanian Imperial Bushmen

Conflict / Operation: South Africa, 1899-1902 (Boer War)

Native place: Tasmania, Australia

Notes: Murray Remarks: Corporal. Sergeant 18/06/1900

Source: Murray page number - 553

but what i really like about it are the photos and other items that came with it. awesome little collection to one man who served over 100yrs ago

enjoy

Very nice and really quite scarce, both WO100/293 and WO100/232 confirm the issue of the medal and clasps as well as his additional entitlement to the South Africa 1901 clasp, any New Zealand or Australian recipient who served with the Rhodesian Field Force during the Anglo Boer War is certainly always nice to see, I should be very happy with that if I were you.

Hi all. I have just joined this forum while searching for some information regarding the Tasmanian Bushmen in the Boer War. I have bought this old thread up as it appears that the opening comments are regarding a soldier (Service No 142) in the same small contingent of Tasmanian’s that I have recently bought a carved Lee Enfield rifle belonged to (Service No156) , 2nd TBC. While searching for information on the soldier who carried the rifle, it led me to photos of the Tasmanian Bushmen, from where I am trying to determine what the collar badges are. I’m guessing they are very much on the rare side, but just gives me something to chase to complete the picture. Just chasing a clear photo of what this badge could be. Your help would be much appreciated, Anthony

Found this photo of your man. Was the Lion badge specifically for the 2nd Tasmanian Bushmen or for all Tasmanian units? Thanks Anthony

The photos are on a website, Tasmanianpioneers.com There are apparently higher resolution photos in the archives, but I’m yet to find them. If I do, I’ll add details here. Thanks for the help with the badge, I’ll keep my eye out at shows and online. Much appreciated, Anthony
