Merry Christmas to you as well Tony,

I've seen this a little while back and it brought back a few memories again. If it was a "BIG" truck in the 80's then it was an RCT item, I know this Mike_2817 (Merry Christmas to you to) cos I used to sign for them before taking them on the road. lol

Cheers Tony

And the Regiment would have had to sign for them from the RAOC Vehicle Depot BEFORE they could get their hands on them LoL

Earlier this year I had the privilege of visiting 7 Regt RLC at Kendrew Barrack in Cottesmore, Rutland as a guest of the 2i/c (Maj Jason Smith who you also know Fatboy) for a private dinner marking his departure from the regiment, and visited the Tank Transporter (mainly 16 Sqn) museum in the RHQ building, and the Mk2 Antar held by the regiment.

They also have a 10 Knocker parked outside RHQ!

I was posted to 44 (RP) Company, Combat Supplies Battalion RAOC whose HQ & accommodation was at Barker Barracks in Padderborne, but worked at Corps Ammunition Depot at 'Depot 90' at Sennelarger next door to HQ 7 Tank Transporter Regiment & 3 Sqn at Normandy Barracks and were fed by the 7 Regt Cookhouse for midday meal & haversack rations. It was impressive to see the mighty Antars lined up on the square. So it was nice to be a guest of the regiment again.

Hiya Mike,

That's why I said "I had to sign for them first, before taking them out". lol

Here are my images of the same trucks prior to returning to the UK within the next few weeks, after these images were taken.

Myself and all the other drivers who visited the Regiment were very disheartened when we saw the state of these historic vehicles and it looks like they are still in a sorry state now.

Oh my god you have no idea how happy that would make me, life long ambition to have a tank. Unfortunately I keep spending my tank money on badges, caps, helmets(I have a tank helmet?) hackles, bourbon, toy soldiers, .....

Its bloody gorgeous, love me some big boys toys. I am very, very jealous

Point of order Mr Chairman. This is not a 'tank.' It is an FV433 Abbot Self Propelled Gun (Artillery). Unfortunately, these days, anything that has tracks and a gun is labelled as a 'tank,' but that is not necessarily the case. Some will argue semantics, but I feel the distinction has to be made.
