I am researching the uniforms and badges of the King’s Colonials, King Edward’s Horse and the unrelated 2nd King Edward’s Horse in a site www.kingscolonials.com

The smaller badge with the slider is indeed a 1970s fantasy item.

OSD collars were worn by some Officers of the 2nd KEH. These are yet to be added to an update of the site.

There is no photographic evidence to support shoulder titles being worn as collar badges.

Cheers Dean.

A selection of 2nd KEH badges showing ORs cap, Officer’s OSD cap and collars (one broached and worn as a sweetheart badge), enameled sweetheart badge, pair of shoulder titles and buttons plus the fantasy slidered badge for size comparison.

Cheers Dean

Well done Dean and yes I think Peters web site deals with 1st KEH ( Australians that served ) as this is his area of collecting.

Thanks Simon and Jack.

Peter’s site www.kingedwardshorse.net is a terrific resource. He helped me when I started out researching their badges in greater detail.

A selection of KEH badges. 1910-1916 Saxon Crown ORs and OSD version and post-1916 ORs KC cap badge, matching GM and OSD collars for Saxon Crown pre-1916 badges and post-1916 OSD cap and collars. Officers and senior NCOs pouch badge, shoulder titles and buttons www.kingscolonials.com cheers Dean

All WW1 era KEH cap badges for both 1st and 2nd were slidered. Lugs are the sure sign of a fake.

That may be true for ORs badges Alan whilst noting that KEH and 2KEH Officer’s Service Dress badges were bladed. Cheers Dean

Dean

Yes I was referring to ORs' badges only. Having looked several sales sites, dealers who watch the forum please note.

Indeed Alan,

They also might like to stop referring to King’s Colonials headdress badges as Boer War slouch hat badges - a war they never served in, cheers Dean.
