Default Australian Light Horse

Are there any other collectors here with an interest in the Australian Light Horse?

My own interest is in the 10th. Light Horse of Western Australia. In its day known as the Western Australian Mounted Infantry, 18th Light Horse, 25th Light Horse, 10 West Australian Mounted Infantry, part of 10 Recce during WW2, and since 1956 reverted back to its old name of 10th Light Horse.

What periods do you collect? 1900-12? 1930-42?

Default Australian Light Horse

I am ex 10LH from CMF days and my interest has focussed on them, and until my eyesight went crook on me (I am near blind) I kept pretty well in touch through the Australian Light Horse web site.

After too long in the wilderness I am now getting my act together with gadgets which enable me to use my computer again and am looking forward to getting back into things again, possibly expanding my interests, and have pencilled in to find out more about the role of Prince of Wales Light Horse in Vietnam.

Sounds good mate!

I'm ex 2/14 Light Horse myself - my main focus at the moment is more RAAC rather than earlier Light Horse badges.

Default australian Light Horse

A great uncle of my wife was 5th Light Horse, enlisted in November 1914, joined the Regiment at Enoggera on 8th December 1914, was wounded at Balkan Gun Pits on 27th June 1915, and evacuated to first Malta then to England, returned to Aust the following year and discharged medically unfit 12th April 1916 as a result of wounds and shell shock.

Last year we passed to 2/14 LH (QMI) museum a copy of his complete service history and a photograph of him taken at Enoggera prior to leaving Australia.

We would like to buy if possible a badge of the 5th Light Horse and a colour patch, if anybody has one for sale. We have checked the for sale threads, can find no offers to sell, we found an image of the badge, on a site found on google

I'm hopefully going to the Melbourne Gun Show in April - can keep an eye out for one there.

Hi, I think some of these might be Light Horse, the 4th image is more purple, being the armed motor unit. The camel corps unfortunately has an ink stain on it, too frightened to wash it. Mike

I also collect all periods of Aust Light Horse, although my collection is only small, however I also collect Victorian Pre Federation badges and have a small collection which I will post when I work out how to get photos onto the forum.

Regards

Phil.
