Kevin,
This cadet unit is mentioned in "The Regiment" magazine issue ( August/Sept. 1996 ) which featured the RWF. I think there was something on the title in one of the "Formation Signs" of the MHS which I will see if I can find. Peter

This is from The Formation Sign of Jan-Mar 1993 and I think shows the benefits of being a member of the Military Heraldry Society whatever your militaria collecting interests are.

Peter,
Excellent information. Could'nt ask for more and great recall to know where you'd seen it. I am a member of the MHS but that article predates my membership. In Bala tonight as it happens and held a powder horn marked to the Cader Idris Volunteers in my hands earlier today. Sadly not for sale. Diolch yn fawr iawn ( very many thanks), Kevin |

The 6th (Cadet) Bn RWF was located across North West Wales with it's HQ located in Bethesda. It consisted of three companies, A Coy covering Anglesey and Bangor, B Coy to the West and South of Bangor and C Coy to the East of Bangor. It contained all RWF detachments apart form Bangor and Llandudno which were RA (and Benllech, which opened just before, who were badges WG) . It has since joined up with the 4th (cadet) Bn RWF to form the North Wales ACF (soon after the formation of the Royal Welsh).
Hope this sheds a little light. Regards Mike |
