Default 15th Scottish Div

I found these sad and sorry cloth badges in a bag a few weeks ago at a car boot sale. The badge that puzzles me is the Tartan patch which looks like Black Watch, was it worn by the Cameronians?
Any help gratefully accepted.

I can't make out the pattern on my screen but most (not all) battalions of the Cameronians in WW2 wore a a diamond of Douglas tartan in lieu of a conventional shoulder title. This was 7 Cameronians in 52 (L) Div.

Default Tartan

Mike, you are a source of information, the tartan patch is the same as Black Watch I think, my photography is not that good.

As for the pic you put up, it's nailed a puzzle for me, I have the diamond patch and did not know what it was, many thanks.

May I add that picture of the BD with Cameronians black lanyard to the Lanyard album with a credit to the owner's collection?

I found my copy of the Militaria mag article. It shows the Cameronians tartan as Douglas, similar to BW but with a white cross. The Glasgow Hldrs wore a square of Government Tartan on the point.

I would go for the Glasgow Highlanders - as illustrated. 2 Glasgow Hldrs and 9 Cameronians both served at the same time in 46 Inf Bde, 15 (S) Inf Div. Mike

I would agree with Mike that it's a Glasgow Highlanders tartan patch.

The accompanying sketch recorded by an enthusiast in May 1941 notes that the badges were worn by a soldier in a Black Watch kilt - but all examples of Black Watch insignia I have recorded so far they wore the shape of their cap badge in tartan.

John Waring's Cloth Identification pamphlet (recently republished and only available to members of the Military Heraldry Society) has this line drawing of the Glasgow Highlanders' tartan described as "green square with black markings".

Default Glasgow Hldrs

I have a note saying that it was worn as a square by 1 Glasgow Hldrs and on its point by 2 Glasgow Hldrs, the former being slightly smaller.

Smile Cameronians?

Thanks Jon and Mike, these mothed cloth badges were found in the bottom of a very dirty cloth bag and I think they may have been part of a much larger lot and were all that was left.

The Cameronians was nothing to do with tartan which I will keep with my Glasgow Highlander badges.
