Cast Eagle or Hawk finial top - Jodhpur connection?
Although not a badge this fairly crudely cast, yellow metal eagle or hawk finial top was among the small Indian badge collection I recently obtained and I wondered if anyone had seen a similar item or could attribute it to a specific Army or Unit. I am aware that the Jodhpur Lancers badge bears an eagle but this is of a different design and so may be completely unrelated.
This item measures 45 mm from wingtip to wingtip and is 50 mm tall including the finial. There are no Maker marks at all and of course this could be non military and something the original owner of the collection took a fancy to and kept. Any thoughts greatly appreciated. Regards, Simon. |

Steve,
Thanks for that, as you say very crude indeed and quite weighty for its size. Obviously took the fancy of the previous Collector of the badges it came with. Regards, Simon. |

Looks like the type you would find on top of a grand father clock

Mike,
Thanks for that, it is very crudely cast but was obviously made to fit into something, still feel it may be military related due to its presence among a collection of Indian badges, will continue searching the web for similar and see what I find. Regards, Simon. |

Indian Military Bands
Good question Mike, I imagine the Princely States would have had a number of Military Bands but I have no idea of the number or composition, perhaps Sunil
may be able to tell us. Regards Simon. |
