Hi Dave,I'm sorry if I gave you some doubts about your badge but if I may direct you to the albums site and in particular to Alan Owen's, Joachim's and Wright's albums you will find that they have the same pattern of the Tyneside as yours and then you can compare.
Cheers
Jo

Default Tyneside Scottish

Westlake has the Tyneside Scottish shoulder titles as white metal numeral only for the 1st battalion, the rest in brass (2,3,4), i have a Tyneside Scottish with the numeral 4 in white metal. I was intrigued to spot a title posted by Jean-pit Frenchy with the 3 in white metal.
My query is were all battalions issued with the white metal numerals at first?

Bill.

Examples of both exist. It would appear that the white metal versions were original issue and the brass came later.

After 179 views and little response the query appears to be difficult to resolve. I have been informed about a TS 4 title with the 4 in white metal and the owner saying it came from the original wearers house clearance, apparently it was photographed for Denis Woods book, (Northumberland Fusiliers?). Anyone have a copy of the book to give us any details?
Bill.

Smile Tyneside Scottish titles

In the "Fifth Fusiliers and its badges" it states that the 1st Btn numeral was in white metal and the 2nd/3rd/4th numerals were in white metal and brass. Hoping this helps.

Default Anyone notice this Tyneside Scottish.....

Item... 120356761000 (bidding now ended there)
Did anyone notice this particular T.S. item ? Modified ends to cross!!
Is there a real explanation for this (known/been seen b4, etc) or is this just some collector's modification (cannot understand why though.)??
Is 'Bidder 5' a member here?
Cheers !
Steve

Just a note, the traditional shoulder title ie Tyneside / number / Scottish was still being worn 1/7/1916 on the Somme as a recently recovered body had them on his uniform. He was found near the Lochnagar Crater at La Boiselle.
