1st Royal New South Wales Lancers shoulder title
Here's something that is incredibly rare.
An 1st Royal New South Wales Lancers shoulder title on a Major's rank slide. These were only worn 1949/1950 before the regiment received its official issue yellow/red titles. Mick

Very nice! I like the way the unit tried to maintain the original colour patch combination of light blue and white in the title. I wonder if any other regiment made the same effort before receiving the generic red on yellow bordered titles.

During this same time, they also wore a chrome rising sun badge on their black berets. However some officers and senior NCOS did wore a 1930s collar badge on their berets instead of the larger rising sun badge. Mick

Thank you. Now to search out another couple of badges. This really is a never-ending hobby!

I do think I posted on the forum previously regarding the efforts by other regiments RAAC to seek different shoulder titles to those eventually authorised.
I think the Victorian elements selected yellow as the brigade colour and the lettering was the regimental colour, while 6 Motor Regt might have been green lettering on red. I do have a file on the subject and have seen other references recently, will endeavour to dig stuff out but probably not before Xmas. Keith |

Yes, agreed, I don't think they were made.
