Question Unknown badge possibly South African

Hi all,

I posted the following badge under the common forum section but no one was able to ID but a member did kindly suggest I post directly on this section as felt it was SA badge. Cast silver 50x50mm depicting St George slaying the dragon on Order of the Thistle background.

Any thoughts, cheers Dean

Dean

First time I have seen this badge, tends to look "English" to me especially with the St. George connection, but at first glance you would think it was Scottish, could it perhaps be a fantasy piece?

Brian

Thanks Brian and this was my first thought on the original general forum unknown post and thought a hybrid with a Scottish background - hence why it may have fitted with a Colonial unit etc. Could be purely a decorative broach or a badge from an Order.

Re-assured if not seen anything similar as SA badge.

Thanks for looking and replying, cheers Dean

Hi Dean, like Brian I have never seen one of these in SA. It doesn't look like an SA item to me. Regards Andrew

I agree with Brian and Andrew -- very unlikely to be South African.
