Wearing that cap badge is a bit unusual for a CEF deployment. As well, his shoulder titles appear to be for the 2 Dragoons from Brantford. The practice of wearing parent unit badges was unusual.

Even so, why would he have two different units insignia?

Another IWM collected photo of LCol Rogers. He is in a different uniform - rank insignia on shoulders, regimental buttons vice leather, however still sporting a 3rd Dragoons cap badge.
http://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/205393774 The medal riband on his uniform is likely the Colonial Auxiliary Forces Long Service Medal which he was awarded in 1914. Unfortunately, LCol Rogers' CEF records have not been digitized and placed on-line with the exception of the attestation form. Some details of his service (and a few more photos) are available here. http://greatwaralbum.ca/Great-War-Al...Charles-Rogers Quote:
He also seems to have been a horseman of some note in the Canadian Corps. http://collectionscanada.gc.ca/pam_a...&ecopy=a000483 http://collectionscanada.gc.ca/pam_a...&ecopy=a000202 http://collectionscanada.gc.ca/pam_a...&ecopy=a000226 |

Perhaps he was wearing the 3rd PWD badge while commanding Eastern Ontario Regimental Depot (EORD)
