Default yes or no

Hello got this plate today very badly in need of good clean quite black in places
but is it an original plate

Phil,

I am not a fan.

Its a strange colour and the rear loops appear to be not the usual copper type?

looks fine to me. strange colour is just poor lighting. its a nice clean sharp stamping with good detail. The crown looks right and the HPC loops are ok.i`d keep it.

Yes I see what you mean on both counts, I have tried to give it a clean but seems in places backed on any tips other than brasso and graft

I like it, the jewels on the crown look good, the crown on whole looks good too.

I am looking for an original 1901-1914 Helmet plate what is the signs to look for an original and not a copy

There are more examples on the forum here, take a look. But I've been told to look at the jewels and crown for uniformity. Just two examples to look out for, and ask for opinions too.
