RAOC sweethearts- plastic or ?
I picked up this RAOC badge today, it is I think a sweethearts and may well be plastic but it has the look of old bone or ivory. The pin fittings are attached to the body of the badge by pins passing through small holes ( one in the crown and the second through the end of the garter.
Has anyone seen anything similar or have any thoughts about the material it is made from ? Thanks P.B.

Thanks Paul,
It may well be a mass produced plastic item but it does have something about it that makes me think there may be a tale about it. Peter

I have seen bone/ivory examples for other units, RAF for example. A nice badge IMO Peter.

I have something similar in mother of pearl which I presume was made as part of a sweetheart badge.

RAOC sweethearts
Peter,
I have seen similar but for the Royal Engineers. It was exactly the same size as the standard GviR cap badge but in plastic. The RE museum have examples in both white and grey plastic. I think they were sweethearts or OCA related. Stephen. |
