Default Old SAS Rank Slides

Friends,

Rank slides are also interesting bits of SAS insignia, particularly the older, handmade ones.

I found an old Lt. Col. rank slide on Ebay last week.

Also, I have some other older ones. See pictures. The lettering on the captain's rank slide is similar to the lettering of the Lt. Col. one.

I would be interested in pictures of any old rank slide you may have in your collections.

Cheers,

Johan

Hi Philip,

It is a blackened bronze metal crown with black felt behind the void.

See close-up picture.

Cheers,

Johan

hi Marc,

What makes you think the rank slides are for 21?

The pips are black, may look dark green, but are in fact black.

Cheers,

Johan

Default rank slides

Friends,

I am adviced this pattern of rank slides is indeed associated with 21 SAS (Lt. Col and Captain).

There has been some information in the past about rank slides for 21 having no dots between the letters, and rank slides for 22 having dots, but that is simply not true. There are many variants of rank slides, including the lettering and dots.

Cheers,

Johan
