Canadian Parachute Corps cap badge
Opinions wanted on this cap badge. Width is correct but the height is 1/16 of an inch too tall. Its so close if you fudge a bit with the ruler it looks okay. May have to take it along to the militaria show to compare with known good ones. Cheers Brian

I'm not keen on it, esp. with the dark finish on the back. Does it feel a bit on the light side?

The lugs look too close together?

Reminds me too much of this repro.

Front had what looked to be old brasso in the crevices. Ran under water with a stiff nylon brush, it took it off but brightened it up a bit. Never held a known good one so dont know if its lighter than it should be. I shall consider it highly suspect until proven otherwise. Thanks for your opinions guys. Cheers Brian

It look like one of those "G-Max" repros with the maker plate removed...
The brown back finish looks similar to the one pictured in this thread about repros. Also I notice the two small marks at the bottom of the reverse side of Brian's badge which looks like where the makers plate WAS attached. Might also be a badge from the idiot's at 6thJune1944... I'll never understand the mentality of the reenactor community to require repro badges this accurate, but then I'll never be convinced that these badges weren't purposely manufactured this way to deceive and make profit at the expense of the unwary either.

My thoughts exactly. The photo is a bit too fuzzy to get a good look but it seems that some of the details are a bit lacking. Is it made from a very thin brass stock? If so I'd say that it's definitely a G-max repro.

If this proves to be a G-maz repro, the removal of the identifying plate makes this a delibrate attempt to defraud. Brian, if you know where you acquired the badge, you could return it.

I wondering if someone with a little more expertise in this field could help me? I purchased this badge in the summer months and it was on a red beret. I just took a shot at it and it was not that expensive. I have a bunch of material out there and I know that the market is flooded with fakes. It weighs 11 grams approx and the dimensions are 39mm approx height. Unfortunately I have not been able to find anyone close to me that has an original that I can compare it to.
Thanks for your help. Adam |

The photo of the obverse has some shadows that are hiding some of the details that I normally look for, but otherwise it seems okay to me. A better photo would be useful for getting a more definitive response.

Here is a better photo of the front. I hope gives enough detail.

Canadian Parachute Corps badge.
Intresting threads. I looked out a badge I have had a long time, and it has a brassy / copperish slider, is voided both sides and is white metal and not brass - no makers name. I read somewhere that they only all had copper lugs, is this so ?/ its 44mm high.Have a look at pics and any ideas on it please.

Hello buckiebeetle, The badge you have is a repro. Original brass badges only had lugs.
