AFAIK, No. But I do have a nice picture of SAS insignia being worn in Malaya.... beret, wings & kris badge (or is that borneo...)

In the uncropped photo his arm is fully visible IIRC...

Hi Peter
i noticed the 1st pic in an advert in the Armourer magazine in the last issue, and thought it looked a great picture.
Is that the original you have?
Cheers for sharing.

Jon

Default Brass tropical wings

Guys,

According to my information, the brass wing was only being worn in the
white No 6 (tropical parade or ceremonial) dress.

I have never seen a picture of it actually being worn.

best regards,

Johan

Looks like they wore the printed yellow Kris with green background.

Default Kris

Hi,

The Malaya Command patch was of course the yellow kris on green, usually
worn in matching pairs on both shoulders.

I believe the yellow kris on maroon is from a later date, but I am not fully
sure what it stands for: some successor to Malaya command from the
early sixties (the Borneo days). Certainly not D Squadron in those days.

Does anybody know exactly what the yellow on maroon kris formation sign stands for?

best regards,

Johan

I was led to believe it was worn by HQ staff but I have not been able to confirm this.

The yellow Kris on maroon is usually described as "Malaya Command Commonwealth Troops".

This would presumably have been worn by non-British units - Australia, New Zealand, Rhodesia etc including their SAS soldiers when deployed?
