Weird one
Got this in a lot today, anyone ever seen one like it? My first thought is a fantasy badge, but for what? I’m surprised it’s Scully marked.

According to Chris Brooker's "WW1 Canadian Expeditionary Force Badges, 1st Edition 2018", this is a made-up with the 'G' and 'L' being added to represent 'General List', and have been classed as possible manufacturers samples.
All these badges are naturally based on the standard General List cap badge, as depicted in your variant. However, there are some that have had a white metal beaver overlay applied beneath the crown and covering the 'CANADA' banner. Fantasy badge?? It's all in the eyes of the beholder; but I have yet to see any photographic evidence of these having been worn, which adds to the idea that these probably were manufacturers samples. |

Agree with Milcollector Blue, as noted in Brooker, this does look well put together. Regards Mark

Great info, thanks! Too bad about the holes in it then, but I really just bought the lot for a 5 CMR badge so this is a bonus!
