Default Rifle brigade

Hi forum.
Can you please give me your opinions on these two.
I like the rifle brigade badge. Nice badge with plenty of detail.
Don’t like the Northamptonshire badge.
All brass ?

RB looks like it may be a cast-silver officer badge, unmarked.
Cheers,
Alex

Hi Alex.
I was hoping that was the case, but I did test for silver and test was negative.
Thanks

Hi badge collector.
Badge has good crisp detail to front.
Cast reverse which I was hoping was silver. Test result “ base metal “
Lugs are dustbin type ish.
Thanks for your input.
Chris

I don't know much about collars but is the second one maybe an officer's OSD collar badge?
Cheers,
Alex

Had not thought of that Alex. Will do a bit of digging and see what I can find out.
Thanks

I still like the RB badge. I wonder if it was a theatre made officer badge to replace a lost badge?

The Northants may indeed be an OSD collar, albeit a bid odd in color. Here is my RB silver badge; a considerable difference quality. The badge in question may stand a chance, but better examples can be had.

Yes, 100% correct, there are better examples but I have seen quite a range of quality of RB officer badges on dealer sites and other auction sites. It seems to be one of the more common officer badges due to the size of the regiment, IMHO.
Cheers,
Alex
