Default Scarce TS officers

Silver plated die-struck badge fitted with lugs and a cotter pin both of which are silver, mounted on a Atholl Murray swatch which looks to be modern.
In Jutas's history he states the regiment was formed 12/12/02 and uniforms first arrived 5/5/03. So when exactly was this badge worn and when was the familiar star badge introduced?

This was the first issue badge(1902), The design was the same as the Scottish Horse. Shortly after this the star badge was introduced. These badges are very hard to find, so well done. Regards Andrew

Andrew, if you are correct about 1902 then the badge was worn before uniforms arrived?
I also have this silver plated button by Fraser & Ross 106 Brunswick St Glasgow. 1891 directory describes Fraser as Vice President of National Federation of foreman tailors, and that the company had a good export business with the Cape and other Colonies. I wonder if they supplied the uniforms?

Wow, nice find Roy, I didn't actually realise that the TS Volunteers star badge had a predecessor.

And I thought my TS collection was complete.....

regards

Iain

Ron,

these aren't in Owen's, he only shows a cap badge and Sporran badge in this style.
