Default Small WRAF sew on badge

I brought this badge today from a well known and trusted dealer.
It is a small WRAF sew on badge in A/A but with a Kings crown.
Can anyone enlighten me about it. Is it a Issue badge, a Trial badge or a Repro?? Having never seen one before.
I look forward to your replies, please see photo's front & rear.

Jerry

Default WRAF

Thanks for showing it to me this morning at the show, it’s always nice to see it in person, looked like the real thing, but have never seen one before. That’s two RAF kc anodised badges on this forum this year.
Regards
Bob

It is rather a strange item. The sew on small badge was for use on the WRAF Stewardess style hat which came into use in the late 1950s early 1960s. This could have been a trial piece but the time period was way past when KC badges would have been worn or considered. The QC version has had other uses such as a band collar for tropical use in Malaya and, the brass version, for use with the 1930s Patrol Jacket. However I have seen no evidence that such a badge with a KC was ever used. If it had been used for other purposes then I would have expected it to have had the standard lugs.

I would agree on the lugs, bess55 showed his one earlier on the forum and the lugs were completely different and I don’t think his badge was as flat

Jerry,
Yes there are small (queens crown) WRAF anodised RAF badges with lugs. I have one in gold and one in silver.

I'm not at home at the moment, but will get a picture up in the week. Also the kings crown anodised RAF cap badge with riveted metal lugs.

Smile Small QC RAF badge

Here is my small QC RAF badge, it never has had any loops fixed to it, I have added an RCAF cap badge for comparison.

Gents my small RAF queens crowns with lugs. Gold and silver.

Also my kings crown anodised example. The lugs are riveted on. There is a small stamp on the rear -- 'prov pat'. Possibly provisional pattern or patent number?
