9th East Norfolk cap and belt plates 1800-1815
9th regiment of foot 1800 to 1815 belt and shako plates
Is anyone able to help with any further evidence or original sources for the shako and belt plates for other ranks. I belong to a reenactment group recreating the ninth. Following evidence at the Norfolk museum, Parkyn and ogilby trust our current thinking is: Shako plate for stovepipe, is the universal plate, with Britannia in centre, IX and Regt on left and right lower corners for 1st battalion, and IX And II bttn for 2nd battalion. Shako plate for 1812 pattern cap, universal plate with Britannia below GR cypher, although it is unclear if this is for officers only, and OR’s had a simple 9. What do you think? Belt plates, are more sketchy. Pre 1812 brass, oval; post 1812 rectangular stamped brass. The picture is from the museum, but we are unclear if this is the 1812 issue, and if that plate was ever sent to Spain in 1812. This has proved very difficult to come to any conclusions on, and hoping people can chip in with any knowledge or references. 98877D5A-E164-40B5-BA53-B0219781D5A6.jpg 0D3E1708-0E0C-4E33-8350-118D9E68F8D6.jpg E6B43B83-F878-48AA-AE5C-57D2AA031D6E.jpg BF3E65CE-9D44-4E60-AEF0-5D5905AB4C8A.jpg |
