I remember where i have got mixed up. My example being repro has a mark only used on officers badges. I do apologise

Its connected to the Provost Corps, though. There is a similar, mystery, badge that has an entwined rope wreath with the cypher.

Thanks Phil, no need for the apology. If it is MPSC then all I can think of is a WO's cap badge, though that's pure speculation. Period images of MPSC personnel are few and far between. The other badge you mention sounds a bit ropey!!.

The enigmatic cypher saga:

Cast your mince pies over this.

The item at the top of the board may well be the answer.

Ewe never know, but as ewesual, I may be baaaarking up the wrong tree and if I am, I will be like a lamb to the slaughter to be ridiceweled.

It's the large size Norfolk Yeomanry. Perhaps he was a former NY officer and retained their insignia?
