Default 12th Manitoba Dragoons hat badge - an opinion

Hi Guys,

I have this 12th Manitoba Dragoons hat badge.

I'm guessing its WW2 era?

Can anyone tell me if its good or if its a dud?

Hi Mick, This badge is arguabley one of the most common Canadian badges. I am not aware of any copies of this badge being made; it would not be worth the time. I think your example is okay.

Forgot to add that this pattern of badge was authorized in 1939, and worn until the unit was put on the supplementary order of battle in 1964.

And further to what Bill said. Did you know all the badges have an error on them?

In the " I " in MAN I TOBA, the manufacturer thought it was supose to be a "A" so if you notice / \ have been grinded off.

Has anybody ever seen this badge with a slider, as per Q/C period badges?

In over 30 years of collecting I have never seen any such bird. I think that they has such a large stock of lugged badges that they never had to requisition a "qc" issue.

Just looked at my example and saw the 'ghost' of the A -- marvellous what you find out on this forum!
