British 101st Fur Helmet and Dragoon Helmet on sale.
Two items that I found while browsing E**y this morning. For those with knowledge of helmets this might be worth a look.
As usual I have no connection with this vendor. Jo http://cgi.ebay.com/BRITISH-1900s-MI...3A8%7C294%3A50 http://cgi.ebay.com/ANTIQUE-MILITARY...QQcmdZViewItem

Brass Helmet
I am not an expert on helmets, but the brass helmet looks to me like an early Fireman's helmet with a ?1st Lifeguards helmet plate fixed to the front, I think the rays on the star have been either chopped to fit or have been damaged.
As for the busby/racoon skin cap, the badge is a pattern not shown in K&K. Maybe someone with a good knowledge of the Royal Munsters may be able to offer advice. |

The busby
That's a complete dogs dinner!
It'sa Hussar/RHA busby with no bag or lines. The chin chains and badge are "add ons" and the plume may have been a good 'un at one time, but is battered beyond all recognition and has no "wedding ring" slider to help give it shape. I used to wear an RHA busby on occcasions and the one I wore did have a round wooden "former" under the bag. It helped to keep the thing rigid and round. |
