Default RE badge

Hi All
Any ideas on this badge? It looks like the sort of fitting that could have gone on the end of a cross-belt or something like that. Is it even military?
Thanks, cheers,
Alex

Thanks Sean. I assume it is Royal Engineers? Do you have any idea of the vintage? Is it worth anything.
Thanks again,
Alex

Just pinched this image off the internet to show you where it was worn.

Likely to be Edwardian, only worn with Full Dress, can't help with value maybe someone else knows, I picked mine quite cheaply but then most of the gilt had been rubbed off
Cheers
Sean

Thanks, that's amazing. Didn't realise it was worn at the back.
Cheers,
Alex

Its the very tip where it meets the pouch which of course is absent on the dummy and replaced by a piece of string.
