63rd Halifax Rifles Presentation Piece.
Thought you folks might enjoy seeing this piece that I've had for a long time. It is a bit different.
The Citation on the back reads: "Presented by C.P. Pickford to Second Scottish Company 63rd Halifax Rifles, 1904" It is stamped 15K, but the rifles do not look gold, and are in fact tarnishing. Otherwise, this is a very exquisite piece. cheers, phil

Very nice piece. From the inscription, it sounds like there may be more of these pins?

That is a very good possibility, indeed, Bill.
Perhaps the key to this is who was Pickford, and I've never googled the name.

A cursory search reveals a Pickford and Black Steamship company.

Interesting, but he was a Robert. Can't seem to find anything CP, but admittedly haven't banged around much to see.
Here is another medal of a similar vintage, though this one is sterling, and I apologize for the colourization. I tried to get it so you could read it. It appears to be to the 2nd Scottish Company as well. It came from the same source and is a shooting prize, though likely a "stock" item that was engraved for the event, "Brown Medal 1912"

Hi Phil
It's a beautifully-looking piece, isn't it? Shame they just don't make things like that today - well not I have seen anyway. Thanks for showing it. + Anthony Quote:
