what period?
New to this forum (first post). I have been attending 1940's events as a civilian for a few years now but now I want to wear naval uniform for the first time.
I am in the process of purschasing items and wondered if this crown is king or queen? I have seen gold and red insignia, what is the difference? I will be gratefull for any help. |

As this jacket is fitted with a Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal it can be dated even more accurately to between 2002 and the present day.
Sailors used to be issued with several of these uniforms, Gold badges worn on the No 1 uniform and Red badges were worn on the old No 4 uniform. In recent years (can't remember the exact year but believe late 90s) to save money sailors have only been issued with a No 1 uniform so red badges are no longer worn. Paddy |
