Question Silver War (wound) Badges

Is there a specific area or forum section that covers these SWB badges?

If not, would it be beneficial to start one?

There is another current thread on this subject. Since they are more like medals (because they are individually identified) they are better researched through British Medals Forum or Great War Forum

Thumbs up

Interesting, I would not of thought of these as such but I guess in many ways, they were awards to show a veteran's service as originally designed for.

Appears I'll be joining even more forums in the near future.

Thanks guys!

The war badge is not really covered here but there will be members here who can help as most info you might ever need is covered in Howard Williamson's excellent book, THE GREAT WAR MEDAL COLLECTORS COMPANION VOLUME 1.

I am sure I am not the only member here who has a copy and it really does cover most things you would want apart from the actual lists of whom each badge went to.

Jerry is correct, there's a good deal of info in the book and the recipients of Brit army issue badges can be found on FMP and Ancestry, RN are also on Ancestry.

Australian recipients can be found in the archives but others (Indian, SA, Canadian, NZ, RAF etc.) either aren't easily available, lost or have been destroyed.
