Default Collar titles

Nothing to do with the E bay seller who constantly describes collar badges as "collar titles " but to do with letters on officers collars beneath their collar badge, or on their own.

We have "T"`s, "C"`s and "V"`s and also "Y"`s below R.A. collar badges for Yeomanry. I have come across a few O.T.C.`s which do not appear to have ever been part of a larger ( or multi piece ) title and I have a vague memory of having seen "OTC" worn as a collar badge.

I am having a senior moment or is anyone able to confirm that they have evidence of that as well ?

Thanks

P.B.

T and V certainly appear in the RACD ledgers in the 1st WW period and I think I may have seen Y as well. Next time I'm at TNA, I'll check for the others.

Thanks KLR,

I think that the use of "Y" below R,A, collar badges many have been well after WW1.

Attached is a picture of a OTC title which might have been part of a multi part title but might it have been worn on the collar ?

Thanks Jerry,

Yes, and great photo, not seen that configuration before, the "C" usually seems to be above the title and sometimes the "C" and title are jointed together.

From a search all those I found had the C above as you mention Peter.

The picture is the Corps of Drums Monmouthshire Grammar School C. 1908-1914. His sat on the ground at the right hand end of the front row.

More details about Monmouth School's Cadet Corps are here:

http://www.monmouthschool.org/school...nmouth-school/

It provides a date of 1925 for its conversion to Junior Division OTC status.

Thanks Alan,

Interesting that they have the same picture though theirs is not as sharp, perhaps from a newspaper, whilst mine is an original framed photographic print.
