This came on a board with the 'suggested' description below it but I couldnt find any reference online hence the decision to place it under the scrutiny (and at the mercy) of the forum members Cheers T |

As far as I can recall, I have never come across a Rifle Volunteer Corps with the title Custom HOUSE in the title, Custom (s) yes but not Custom House.
There was an interesting article in a fairly recent MHS Bulletin about a Liverpool Civil Service Rifles button. Apparently the meeting that was arranged to consider the formation of this Rifle Volunteer unit in 1860 took place at the Liverpool Custom House and the unit was referred to locally as the "Customs Corps ". P.B.

The only reference i could find was a Custom House Corp in a book titled Civil Service Rifles, at appendix 1, it makes mention of a Custom House Corp but these were disbanded by 1814 so seems like a 'fantasy' description (if there is such a thing in the realm of buttons) Link below https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=...0rifle&f=false T |

My apologies, in the list of Middlesex Rifle Volunteer units in "Collecting Volunteer Militaria" by Wyatt, the 26th Middlesex RVC had the title "Custom House "
