Perhaps he served in a KRH Battle Group in Iraq or Afghanistan. For years the Army has been so understrength that as each armoured or infantry unit took its turn on deployment one of its sub-units came from another regiment. Parent cap badges were retained but at least one Regimental item of uniform was that of the unit being supported as a unifying mark.

Why would an officer from the RSDG be wearing an KRH beret and rank slides ???. Because he is attached to the KRH Tony C |

I would have thought an attached officer would have worn his own insignia on the rank slide? Mick

He is wearing the rank badge of the unit in which he is exercising command.

If you have a copy or access to the KRH issue of the Regiment magazine, its clearly illustrated. Theres an image of an attached RAF officer, red trousers, brown jumper and grey/blue cap looks ..... well I'll let you form an opinion.
