It certainly was not related to the "starch back" or "glue back" titles.

Default Original ARF wing belonging to Herbert Kibby RAF

Only just joined so hi everyone,iam casper.
Yes your ARF wing is a copy i have seen these selling for £50 ,the material and construction is to bulky.
I enclose a real one.
This belonged to
2-Lieut Herbert Cecil Kibby RAF

Herbert Cecil Kibby was born on 12th Febuary 1895 at Somerset Newton St Lee Bristolat WaterSplash Farm.Kibby gave his occupation at his time of enlstment as "Book Keeper" with the company of William Holder & Son at Southhall Middlesex.He was employed in this capacity from January 1910 until October 1913.He resioded with his father Mr R B Kibby at 56 Western Road,Southhall ,London.2/Lieut Kibby originally joined up during the patriotic fever of 1915. He was brought up in Middlesex and joined the local Middlesex Regiment as a Private. He went to France during March of that year proving his worth in the trenches. Gaining his Cpl stripes and a commission with the 10th Middlesex Reg (TF) London Gazette 23rd April 1918 ,2nd Lieut Middsex Regt (TF) He transfered to the RAF on 24th May 1918 , initially joining 76 Squadron RAF and Subsequently 250 /260 Squadrons .His papers state his competence in flying DH6,BE2cs,BE2es .
He was severly wounded on 4th September 1918 at RAF Westward Ho , he passed away on 27th October 1918. Casualty card at RAF Hendon stated “Injured (battle) Notd”. RAF Westard Ho were equiped with D.H. 6 of 260 Squadron which were Formed in August 1918 from No's 502 and 503 Flights at Westward Ho, equipped with DH6s for coastal patrols along the Devon coast
Badly injured whilst in a DH6 (serial number C7849)Lt H.C. KIBBY stalled his aircraft whilst turning and spun in.

His casualty card at RAF Hendon states.

5.9.18 "Aeroplanes WESTWARD HOE" Injured battle noted
5.9.18 ...................................muliple fractures, condition critical.
9.9.18 HORS GROUP AUX HOSP still seriously ill
9.9.18 HQ WAR HOSP.............. fractured Fermer, right fracture humerous, fractured ribbs with injury to lung,Nentham Hospital 4.9.18
13.9.18 HQ War Hosp Exiter .......Not so well today
19.9.18.........................No improvement slightly weaken condition and very grave.
28.10.18 DIED OF INJURIES.

Kibby was classified as a non-operational casualty. According to Hobson, this man was the only fatality during the WAr for 260 squadron.
Originally a native of Southall, Kibby had survived three years in the trenches with the 10 Middx Regt.only to be killed during a reconaisance mission for 260 squadron.

The medal group consists of the
1914/15 Star 3612 Pte H C Kibby Midd'x R
British War Medal 3612 Pte H C Kibby Midd'x R
Victory medal 3612 Pte H C Kibby Midd'x R
Death plaque ( Herbert Cecil Kibby )and Scroll (2/Lieut Herbert Cecil Kibby RAF)
Confirmed on MIC as 3612 Pte H C Kibby Midd'x R then transfered to RAF with rank of 2/Lieut.
together with his exceedingly rare ARF pattern pilots wing.
The whole is presented in a contempory flush glass paneled presentation case .

Thats a very nice wing, a lot finer than the one offered by Hand & Lock (which may or may not be original) although it has the same Holland backing.

Only just found this webpage researching my family tree, Herbert Cecil Kibby was my 1st cousin 3x removed. Were you related to him? Well constructed information, thanks.
