John,

it's a fake or modern copy. The genuine badges don't have the semicircles in the place of the fastening of the scroll to the eagle. Futhermore, the back of the badge must be well-definately stamped.

Gentlemen, I think it's a WW1 economy all-brass cap badge. Am I right? Ans one more question: is this badge genuine?

Is it usual for the Greys' NCO arm badge to have a flat plate sweated onto the back, or is this indicative of a particular maker or period?

This is one I recently obtained and I would value your opinions on it.

I don't think it is genuine. Compared to other bi metal badges I have it seems a bit thin.

I have also looked at photos in this thread and the plinth appears to be thinner/longer than others and I am not sure if the definition on the rear of the badge is sharp enough.

Any information would be most appreciated
