CANSOFCOM,CWO,wearing tan beret and rank badge.
While searching the internet I came upon an interesting photograph of the CWO of the "new" Cansofcom, wearing the tan beret and his CWO rank badge on the said beret. An unusual combination,at least to me.Perhaps worn this way until they have a proper cap badge?

Interesting. Wonder if this is a practice that will expand.

I believe that this is now the cap badge for "Command" CWOs, that is, any CWO who is the "RSM" of a base, formation, command, etc.... and only CWOs of a unit would continue to wear the cap badge of their unit. A bit like the old General List badge but now embroidered. The beret badge actually loks a little smaller than the sleeve insignia. In my opinion they should have embroidered it onto a tan background but I'm not going to tell the RSM/CWO.

Bonjour (ou Bonsoir) Clive, any informations if the so-called CANSOFCOM will be issued a specific cap badge or, the members will continue wearing their own parent unit's? Also, any idea on what this cap badge is ???

In the late 1980s a new cap badge came out that was worn only by the Canadian Forces Chief Warrant Officer. The badge was the Canadian Coat of Arms and was made in metal in two sizes. Later, an embroidered badge was produced. I can remember CWO Marr continuing to wear his RCR badge rather than the new CFCWO badge. In the last few years, CWOs of formations/commands/bases have worn the Coat of Arms, to help get away from branch/regimental identities.
As far as I know, the "government issue" capbadge is only made in mylar embroidery, in one size. |
