WW1 ID Discs?

Hello everyone,

Bit clueless on these as not my thing, just saw them and liked them.

They were advertised as WW1 however I understand they even make ‘replica’ discs these days albeit the leather (shoelace?) looks very old.

My questions are, are they original and if so what period? And is there anyone who can tell me anything about the individual? I assume meth is Methodist but I cannot even see what Regiment he was...

If they are duff please don’t spare my feelings, they cost less than the obvious replicas on eBay.
