Default MADI Badge

Hi, can anyone shed any light on this badge that I just picked up. I can only find reference to Sudan regarding Madi. Is it from Sudan? Police or military, or other? Time period? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Have a wonderful evening.

Andrew

I am not sure is Sudanese, as the correct spelling would be Mahdi. I would guess that MADI is an acronym of some sort. However, the rooster makes me think French, but that's just a guess.

OK Andrew, looks like we both learned on this one. Was not aware there was a district named MADI as I was thinking of the ruler back in the late 19th century.
