Unknown .M.P.M. ARP badge?

Picked up this simple but quite nice ARP badge this morning.

No maker's mark to rear but there is a same design but red/white .M.P.M. FW badge on p.80 of Jon's excellent Doing Their Bit book.

Gramatically-odd to have a dot before the first letter - anyone know who the company was?
