Default Indian ORDNANCE

I have two buttons and a collar dog that are similar to the standard Indian Army Ordnance Corps buttons and badges I have i.e. Board of Ordnance type shield, with the Kings Crown BUT the scroll under the shield has only INDIA ORDNANCE on them, rather than the usual INDIA ARMY ORDNANCE CORPS Anyone any idea of the vintage?

The Ordnance Departments of Bengal, Madras, & Bombay (formed 1796) were combined in 1884 to form The Indian Ordnance Department. This in turn became IAOC in 1922, absorbing the (Indian)Army Clothing Department.

Oh Dear! I should have read by buttons & badge before i sent my question!!! My buttons and Badge are the same as quoted by jim a. It's a good job i was more efficient when i was in employment.
Now for the answer from revdougal. Thanks for the info. My Great Grandfather was a Conductor Bombay Ordnance , Feb 1881, and returned to England circa 1884. I guess that with the amalgamation he may have been "Surplus" to establishment. His brother was also a Conductor Bombay Ordnance Department and returned to England in 1880
Thanks for adding some detail to my family history.
