Default South Waziristan Scouts

I have had this example for over thirty years and the only other types i have seen are the narrow head versions,this is double lugged east west and has an Indian makers mark on the back.All observations welcome.Phil.

Thanks for the comments gents,i have seen the narrow faced version lots of times and im not sure of the period, i think they are late on.I dont have a scan of the rear but i will do one and post it up asap,also the twin lugs are north south not east west as prior post,thanks again for your comments and interest.Regards phil.

I to have one of these badges with north-south lugs. Stamped between the lugs is Yousef & co.The address is unreadible. John.

Heres the reverse of the SWS, its difficult to read but poss the same maker as yours John, fougasse i hope you can read it.Good to have a few more India badge wallahs about.Regards Phil.

Spelling mistake, should be Yousaf not Yausef, looks to be the same as yours. John.

I have or had the same 6, I believe. several are pretty crude workmanship - the infamous 'bazaar sandcast' perhaps. I believe all are later, perhaps even post-partition in some cases. All mine, I mean, though at a distance of 5-10 years since last seen I couldn't tell you why I thought so. Perhaps some had Urdu rather than English script.

Wish I could find the d**n things. Now i have incentive!

Peter the SWS and the Zhob Militia badges i believe to be pre 1947 the others were raised at later dates.Pishin in 1946,Bajaur 1961,Northern 1949.The SW Khassadars im uncertain of.Regards.Phil.

The name is indeed Yousef and the marking below is LHRCANT meaning Lahore Cantonments where they had a shop.
I have one of these badges as well along with a SWS shoulder title.

Thank you for that update CB its good to pin down the manufacturer and the area,its certainly a good looking badge and i have not seen too many, usually i have seen the narrow horn versions but i am unsure of the period.Thanks for the input,best regards Phil.
