White metal Surma Valley Light Horse title, stamped on the reverse D.K.Johnson & Co Aligard U.P. Can anyone suggest dates worn?

Default SVLH title

I would think this title was worn up to the 1940's.

I know nothing about Indian titles, but found that it can not be earlier than 1886: "In August 1886 its title was changed to the Surma Valley Light Horse, and this remained unchanged till the British left India".

Could that possibly be J.H.Johnson & Co Aligard U.P., One of the largest Indian badge makers? Sometimes Indian makers marks are difficult to read.

Rgds,

Thanks Fougasse on closer examination of the wording it is J.H.

The regiment was first raised as the 'Sylhet Volunteer Rifle Corps' on 22/10/1880. It was re-named the 'Cachar & Sylhet Mounted Rifles' on 06/04/1883 and the 'Surma Valley Light Horse' on 13/08/1886. It retained this title up to 14/08/1947 when all Auxiliary Force (India) units were disbanded on the eve of Indian independence.
