Unknown MSC/Y Badge or Title

Hi folks,

This unknown Cap/Collar Badge or Shoulder Title was recently on ebay.

As you can see it is in White metal and it is a Kings Crown over the letters : M.S.C./Y
To the reverse are two horizontal lugs (East and West) and there is a makers mark of "J.R. GAUNT LONDON".
Size:- 22mm x 26mm approx


Of course it could be a civilian organisation and nothing military?

Anybody got any ideas please?

Well I think I could have been guessing on the meaning of the letters for the next 10 years and still not got to that identification.
