Any ideas on this one please Guys?

Wm, 2 screw thread fittings and measures E-W 42mm, N-S 42mm.

As highlighted by GGM the crown certainly looks to be a later addition, possibly a replacement for a QVC?

The joint is almost seemless so probably a factory process? No sign of any numeral ever having been in the center?

Hi Andy,

the Royal Durban Rifles had a very similar badge worn 1873 - 1899 with QVC. In 1895 it became the Durban Light Infantry. The size is also similar.

I don't have a copy myself but if you go to this link, Brian Conyngham did post his copy.

Problem; it has lugs not screw posts but in recent years a lot of SA badges had screw posts. Although your badge doesn't look like the fitting was ever altered.

You could ask Dave, maybe he repaired it
