Default Motor Driver Sheild

Wouldn't it be great if this was an Edwardian ASC trade badge or a WW1 VAD Ambulance drivers badge

Meanwhile back on planet earth, it measures 55mm x 43mm and appears to have had a repair to the rear brooch pin.

Any thoughts as to what "S P L" could stand for and who would have had at least 1.818 drivers?

Rob.

Hi Rob
Could it be an abbreviation of 'SPECIAL' for a particular skill or trade?
Cheers,
Alex

Hi Rob,

I'm going out on a limb here and asking could it be police? It looks like an American police shield as issued to drivers around the turn of the last century. Especialy with the number on it!

Hope I'm wrong!

Regards,

Dave

G’day Rob

What you have is a Malta Drivers ID badge.

As in Taxi can’t remember if Bus drivers wore the same badge

Cheers
John
